From January 19 to 20, 2009, China's Special Envoy on the Middle East Sun Bigan met with diplomatic envoys of Arab countries to China and representatives of the League of Arab States (LAS), as well as the diplomatic envoys or senior diplomats to China of Israel, Iran, Russia, the United States and the EU Troika (the Czech Republic, Sweden and the European Commission).
Sun briefed on his visits to Egypt, Israel and Palestine last week and introduced China's five standpoints on the current Gaza situation. China is ready to work with the international community to continue efforts for the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli issue and realization of a comprehensive, fair and lasting peace in the Middle East.
The foreign diplomatic envoys and diplomats appreciated China's policy proposals and peacemaking efforts.
