On July 8, 2010, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai.
Wen said that with the joint unremitting efforts of both sides, China-Pakistan strategic cooperative partnership has been consolidated and strengthened and the friendship between both peoples has been further deepened. History proves that China and Pakistan are friends sharing weal and woe as well as partners joining hands for progress and they have made important contributions to promoting regional peace and development. Next year will mark the 60th anniversary of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations. Wen said China is willing to take the opportunity of the 60th anniversary to propel bilateral relations to a new stage.
With regard to trade cooperation, Wen told Zardari that the Chinese government attaches great importance to its trade ties with Pakistan which not only benefit the two peoples but also have strategic significance to the long-term development of the two economies. He suggested both sides make scientific planning, coordinate closely and advance trade cooperation in a down-to-earth manner. Both sides should take effective measures to offer reliable policy, financial and security guarantees to major bilateral infrastructure projects. Wen also encouraged both countries to enhance personnel, information and technology exchanges among enterprises, and make full use of the advantages and market mechanisms of the China-Pakistan free trade area to boost trade cooperation and achieve stable and sustainable development.
Zardari said the two countries are all-weather close friends. He said the frequent visits by the Pakistani leaders to China revealed the importance the Pakistani government attached to developing relations with China and the Pakistani side’s affection of the Chinese people. He extended gratitude to China's support and help to his country over the years, adding Pakistan would like to take the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, infrastructure construction and culture, and join hands to fight terrorism. He also urged both sides to further enrich the connotations of Pakistan-China strategic cooperative partnership to benefit both peoples and promote regional peace and development.
