On June 25, 2010, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao held talks with Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic in Hangzhou.

Wen said the two nations had enjoyed increasing high level visits and strengthened mutual political trust in recent years. "We applaud Serbia's support for us on issues relating to core interests and major concerns," he said. No matter what changes take place in international situation, China will always respect Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and respect the Serbian people's choice of development path according to their domestic situation, he said.

"We value the traditional friendship with Serbia," Wen said. He said China was ready to keep closer exchanges with Serbia at all levels and encouraged more Chinese businesses to take part in Serbia's infrastructure construction. Wen also hoped the two sides would expand mutual investment and increase exchanges in personnel, information and technology to continuously enrich and deepen bilateral strategic partnership.

Cvetkovic said the Serbian government firmly adhered to the one-China policy. He also expressed appreciation for China's support for Serbia's efforts to safeguard sovereignty and territorial integrity. Serbia attaches great importance to developing ties with China. Serbia was ready to work with China to maintain high level visits and enhance political mutual trust, Cvetkovic said. He welcomed investment from Chinese businesses, saying Serbia would create positive conditions to support cooperation between businesses from both nations. Serbia would make efforts to fulfill major cooperation projects between the two countries including Danube bridge in Belgrade and promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation, he said. He said he was looking forward to the completion of the Chinese culture center in Belgrade. Serbia hopes to expand cultural and people-to-people exchanges with China by participating in the Shanghai World Expo to build up mutual understanding and friendship, he added.

Cvetkovic also briefed Wen on Serbia's position on the Kosovo issue. Wen said China understood Serbia's reasonable concerns on this issue. China maintained the Kosovo issue would be solved through dialogue within the framework of international law, Wen said. China, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, would continue playing a constructive role to this end.

Zhao Hongzhu, secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Guangya and other officials attended the talks.
