On April 7, 2010, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai with Indian Foreign Minister Krishna, who is here in China for an official visit.
Wen said that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and India. History proves that good-neighborly friendship and common development best conform to the interests of the two countries, Asia and even the world at large. Currently China-India relations have entered a new stage of mature and stable development with richer connotations, more extensive influence and broader prospects. The two countries agreed to establish a hotline between the two prime ministers, marking that their bilateral ties will get closer. China is ready to work with India to build mutual trust, properly handle border issues and enhance cooperation and coordination in bilateral and international fields. Both sides should also push bilateral strategic cooperative partnership to a higher level and make new contributions to rejuvenating Asia and promoting harmonious and sustainable development of the world.
Krishna said that both India and China are ancient civilizations in Asia as well as major countries in the developing world. Common development of both countries will have great influence on the world, and developing India-China friendly cooperative relations conforms to the common interests of both sides. The Indian government and people attach great importance to the strategic cooperative partnership with China and are ready to work with the Chinese side to keep closer bilateral exchanges, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and enhance coordination in major international and regional affairs. Both sides should resolve the issues between the two countries through peaceful negotiations and push forward bilateral ties.
