On March 31, 2010, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi at request met with the outgoing United Nations official Khalid Malik. Malik is UN Resident Coordinator in China. Yang expressed regret for Malik leaving the post and appreciated the positive role he has played during his term in China for promoting cooperation between China and the United Nations. Malik thanked Foreign Minister Yang and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their strong support of his work. Both sides also exchanged views on how to push forward the implementation of the UN Millennium Development Goals and other issues.
