On August 18, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi at request held a telephone conversation his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov. During the telephone conversation, the two ministers pledged joint efforts to ensure the success of a series of meetings between the leaders of the two countries within the year. They also vowed to continue their communication and coordination on major international issues and push forward the strategic and cooperative partnership between the two countries.
