On August 18, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart Lavrov. Both sides agreed to make joint efforts to ensure a series of successful and important meetings between leaders of the two countries within the year, stay in communication and coordination on major international issues and promote continuous development of China-Russia strategic partnership of cooperation.
