On July 13, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei exchanged views in Seoul with the ROK side on the North Korea nuclear issue and the situation in northeast Asia.
Both sides expressed concern over the situation in northeast Asia and pledged joint efforts to safeguard peace and stability in the region.
The two sides agreed to remain committed to the goal of denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and consultation. They also agreed that the six-party talks remains an effective mechanism to solve the issue and they are ready to work with other parties to resume the talks at an early date.
Meanwhile, the ROK side said it will keep contact and dialogue with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), a position supported by China.
Both sides also agreed to continue communication and coordination on relevant issues based on the spirit of China-ROK strategic cooperative partnership.
