On August 6th, Ambassador Wang Wenli attended the 2025 "Chinese Ambassador Scholarship" award ceremony at the  Universidade Nacional Timor Lorosa’e (UNTL) and presented certificates to 110 award-winning students. Dr. Joviano António da Costa, Rector of UNTL；Mr. Domingos Barros, Director  General of Higher Education and Science of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Culture, and other school leaders, scholarship recipients and their parents, participated in the event.

Ambassador Wang stated that China and Timor-Leste are traditionally friendly countries. In July 2024, President Xi Jinping and President José Manuel Ramos-Horta jointly guided that bilateral relations would move towards building a China-Timor-Leste community with a shared future. It is  hoped that the students would continue to carry forward the friendship between the two countries and contribute their youthful strength to the prosperity and development of their countries and to building a China-Timor-Leste community with a shared future.

Rector Joviano expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for its strong support to the higher education in Timor-Leste in recent years, especially for providing the UNTL with the "Chinese Ambassador Scholarship" for seven consecutive years. He said the “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship” is more than a scholarship programme, it is a symbol of the long-standing friendship between China and Timor-Leste.

Before the award ceremony, Ambassador Wang Wenli and Rector Joviano held talks on practical cooperation in areas such as establishing inter-school cooperation between China and Timor-Leste and promoting Chinese language teaching.
