On July 30, 2026, The Chinese Embassy in Timor-Leste held a reception to celebrate the 99th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). Ambassador Wang Wenli, Defence Attaché Miaohaijun and all diplomatic officers of the embassy were present. The Minister of Defence of Timor-Leste , Donaciano do Rosário Gomes, the Chief of the General Staff of F–FDTL, Lieutenant-General Domingos Raúl “Falur Rate Laek”, and other senior officials from government departments, military and police authorities attended the reception. Representatives from Chinese business associations and enterprises, the Chinese medical team, and overseas Chinese in Timor-Leste were also in attendance. A total of approximately 170 guests attended the reception.

Senior Colonel Miaohaijun, Defence Attaché of the Embassy, reviewed the glorious course of the PLA in his speech . He emphasized that the Chinese military will always adhere to the path of peaceful development, and is fully confident and capable of providing solid strategic support for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. In the future, Both China and Timor-Leste will further deepen practical cooperation in defence and security, and enrich the connotation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Minister Donaciano do Rosário Gomes extended warm congratulations on the anniversary, spoke highly of the remarkable achievements in the PLA's development, and expressed that Timor-Leste stands ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation to promote the rapid development of military ties between the two countries.

A special photo exhibition and promotional videos of the PLA were displayed at the reception, which was permeated with a warm and friendly atmosphere.
