On July 1st, 2026, the completion ceremony of the Comoro Substation and Power Transmission Line Project as well as the Dili Underground Cable Demonstration Project in Timor-Leste was successfully held. Wang Wenli, Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste, attended the event upon invitation and delivered a speech. More than 200 guests from all walks of life were present at the ceremony, including Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, Prime Minister of Timor-Leste; Nelson de Carvalho, Attorney General; Samuel Marçal, Minister of Public Works; Paulo da Silva, President of the Board of Directors, Electricidade de Timor-Leste (EDTL); Counselor Zhao Suocheng from the Chinese Embassy in Timor-Leste and representatives of TBEA.
In her speech, Ambassador Wang Wenli extended warm congratulations on the smooth completion of the two livelihood-focused power projects. She pointed out that the efficient completion and operation of the two projects marked an important achievement of China and Timor-Leste in jointly advancing the Belt and Road Initiative and deepening infrastructure connectivity. She expressed the expectation that China and Timor-Leste would continue to deepen practical cooperation across various fields and elevate the friendly bilateral relations between the two countries to new heights.
