On the morning of April 29, 2011, Chinese President Hu Jintao met with Bernard Accoyer, speaker of the French National Assembly at the Great Hall of the People.
"China and France, as both members of the Security Council of the United Nations and of the Group of 20, share broader common interests and wider cooperation prospects than before as the world situation is changing dramatically and with global challenges emerging," Hu said. President Hu pledged to enhance bilateral, regional and multinational cooperation with France to cope with global challenges and promote the comprehensive strategic partnership.
The Chinese government supports the two legislatures to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, he said, expressing hope that the two legislative bodies will tap strong representation, extensive links and other advantages, and offer suggestions and serve as a bridge for bilateral pragmatic cooperation so as to push China-France comprehensive strategic partnership for more tangible outcomes.
Accoyer said the two countries have established fruitful friendly cooperative ties since the two states established diplomatic relations in 1964 and such precious friendship is worth cherishing. In the current situation, it is particularly important for the two countries to enhance comprehensive cooperation. The French side hoped both sides will make greater achievements in cooperation on nuclear energy, aviation, machinery and electronics production, culture, education and healthcare to bring more benefits to both peoples and push bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level.
Li Jianguo, Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General of NPC Standing Committee, and other officials attended the meeting.
