On February 23, 2011, visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with his ROK counterpart Kim Sung-hwan in Seoul.

The two ministers spoke highly of development of the relationship between the two sides and exchanged views on how to further push forward bilateral ties. They agreed to work together to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, boost people-to-people contacts and strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, so as to achieve greater development of the strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations and make positive contributions to safeguarding and promoting peace, stability and stability in the region.

Yang stressed that China always supports inter-Korean dialogue, and has been actively committed to maintaining peace and stability on the Korean peninsula, advancing the process of denuclearization and achieving long-term stability in the peninsula and the whole region. Though the tension on the peninsula has eased somewhat recently thanks to the joint efforts by related parties, uncertainties still remain, Yang said. China hopes all parties concerned will focus on the overall interest, work towards the same direction, make more efforts to create conditions for an early resumption of the six-party talks, and get the relevant issues on the peninsula back to the track of dialogue and consultation, Yang said.

In response, Kim said South Korea and China share a common goal of maintaining peace and stability and realizing denuclearization on the peninsula. Hailing China's support on inter-Korean dialogue, Kim said ROK is willing to work together with China based on the spirits of good-neighborliness and friendship, regional stability, common prosperity, and seeking common ground while ironing out differences, for further development of the bilateral relations and peace, stability and co-prosperity of the region.
