On December 19, 2010, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Pakistani Senate Chairman Farooq Hamid Naek and National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza in Islamabad.

Wen said that the profound traditional friendship between China and Pakistan is a precious treasure of both peoples and is worth cherishing. The very objective of his visit, he said, is to demonstrate that China firmly supports Pakistan in post-disaster reconstruction and its efforts to seek economic development and maintain stability. China also appealed to the international community to help Pakistan in overcoming difficulties and coping with challenges. Wen said his three-day visit has produced significant results and breathed new life into bilateral relations.

Wen appreciated the efforts by Pakistani parliamentary political parties to improve their country's relations with China. China encourages the Pakistani parliament to enhance communication with the Chinese side and help bring bilateral friendly cooperation to higher levels and more tangible benefits to the two peoples so that China-Pakistan friendship will be carried forward from generation to generation and be full of new vigor and vitality, Wen added.

Calling the Pakistan-China friendship all-around, Naek and Mirza said the Pakistani parliament attaches great importance to ties with China. The Pakistani parliament is willing to enhance friendly exchanges with China's National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and jointly celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries next year and the Pakistan-China Friendship Year. They also expressed willingness to help deepen friendship between the two peoples and consolidate relations between the two countries.
