On November 12, 2010, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met respectively with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, who are in the southern China city of Guangzhou to attend the opening ceremony of the 16th Asian Games.
Wen extended welcome for them to attend the opening ceremony of the Guangzhou Asian Games and thanked for their support of the event. Zardari and Abhisit wished the Guangzhou Asian Games a great success.
When meeting with Zardari, Wen hailed the profound China-Pakistan traditional friendship and common strategic interests. To consolidate and deepen bilateral all-weather strategic cooperative partnership is conducive to peace, stability and development of the region and the world at large. Wen noted that any difficulty and challenge would not shake the resolve and confidence of the two countries to consolidate friendship and step up cooperation. China expressed its deep sympathy for flood-hit Pakistan and would do its best to provide help for Pakistan's post-disaster reconstruction, said Wen. China would expand pragmatic cooperation with Pakistan to bring about tangible benefits to the Pakistani people and increase Pakistan's self-development capability so as to push the country’s economic and social development to a new level, said Wen.
Zardari described China as the best and most reliable friend of Pakistan, and expressed his appreciation for China's strong support and disinterested assistance for the country’s disaster rescue and post-disaster reconstruction. Zardari hoped the two countries could cement cooperation in areas such as agriculture, irrigation and infrastructure and enhance coordination in international and regional affairs in a bid to make the ties closer and fruitful and to safeguard common interests of both countries.

On November 12, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, who is in the southern China city of Guangzhou to attend the opening ceremony of the 16th Asian Games and relevant activities.
When meeting with Abhisit, Wen said the Chinese government attaches great importance to the traditional friendship and strategic cooperative relations with Thailand. China is ready to maintain high-level exchanges and consultations at all levels with Thailand and push for sound, steady development of bilateral relations. China has become the biggest export destination and the second trading partner of Thailand, said Wen, calling on the two countries to use the platform of China-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) free trade area to increase bilateral trade exchanges. China and Thailand should outline the future five-year plan and define major projects for bilateral trade ties, said Wen. He also suggested the two countries enhance cooperation in the field of infrastructure like railway and expand mutual investment so as to push forward bilateral trade relationship in a continuous and in-depth manner. China would work closely with ASEAN to tackle complex challenges in the region and make progress in pushing forward China-ASEAN strategic partnership and boosting cooperation in East Asia, said Wen.
Hailing the sound growth momentum in bilateral ties, Abhisit said Thailand would make joint efforts with China to promote mutual political trust and deepen pragmatic cooperation in economic, trade and other sectors so as to advance bilateral ties more vigorously. China has played an important role in promoting cooperation in East Asia and has contributed to peace, stability and development in the region and the world, said Abhisit. Thailand is ready to keep closer coordination and cooperation with China to safeguard common interests.
Wang Yang, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, attended the meetings.
