Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Lodges a Solemn Representation to Japan over the Illegal Detaining of the Chinese Fishing Boat and Fishermen in the Waters of Diaoyu Islands

On September 10, 2010, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi summoned Japanese Ambassador to China Uichiro Niwa and lodged a solemn representation to and a strong protest with Japan over the illegal detaining of the Chinese fishing boat and fishermen in the waters of Diaoyu Islands. Yang stressed that the Chinese government is firmly determined to defend the sovereignty of Diaoyu Islands and the rights of Chinese citizens and demanded Japan to immediately and unconditionally send back the Chinese fishing boat and fishermen including the captain.
