1. Citizens of Timor-Leste may travel to Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of China visa-free for a short-term visit or for tourism purposes and stay in HKSAR for up to 7 days.

2. For citizens of other countries, please visit the website of HKSAR Immigration Department at (http://www.info.gov.hk/immd/) to see whether visas are needed to go to HKSAR.

3.  Foreign citizens should obtain visas before entering HKSAR if they intend to stay in HKSAR longer than the visa waiver period, or the purpose of visit is to work, take up residence, study or receive training in HKSAR.

4.  How to apply for a Visa for Hong Kong SAR of China:

4.1 With effect from 28 December 2021, the Hong Kong Immigration Department has implemented the “e-Visa” arrangement. An applicant for an entry visa/permit, extension of stay or change of status, etc can apply on the website of Hong Kong Immigration Department.

4.2 Effective since January 17, 2025, the Immigration Department of HKSAR Government further promotes electronic services for visa applications. Applicants of the following visa categories, namely employment, talents, investment, training, working holiday scheme, and residence as dependants, should submit their applications by electronic services to the ImmD.Please see more details at https://www.info.gov.hk/gia/general/202501/14/P2025011400355.htm?fontSize=3.

  4.3 You may also submit your application in person to Chinese Embassy. 

  A. Follow the guidelines for the Visa for Hong Kong SAR of China and prepare required supporting documents with your application.

  B. Processing Time: 4 weeks or more.

  C. Fees and payments: If your application needs to be referred to HKSAR Immigration Department for processing, you are required to pay a Communication Fee of $20 to the Embassy prior to submission of your application, in addition to the Visa for Hong Kong SAR of China fee which is charged once your visa is approved. Otherwise, you must pay directly to HKSAR Government as instructed.
