Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, bilateral relations have developed in a healthy and stable manner. Political mutual trust between the two countries has continued to deepen, and cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results. The two sides have become a model of mutual respect, equality, and common development between countries, regardless of size. In 2023, the relationship between the two countries was elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. In 2024, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to building a China–Timor-Leste Community with a Shared Future, injecting new impetus into their comprehensive strategic partnership. The friendship and cooperation between China and Timor-Leste have brought tangible benefits to both countries and peoples, and constitute a constructive force for regional peace, stability, and mutual benefit.
