Vice Minister of Commerce of PRC Wang Bingnan Visited Timor-Leste

From December 3rd to 4th, H.E. Mr. Wang Bingnan, Vice Minister of Commerce of PRC, and his delegation visited Timor-Leste. H.E. Mr. Wang met with H.E. Mr. Fidélis Manuel Leite Magalhães, Minister for Legislative Reform and Parliamentary Affairs, Acting Minister Coordinator for Economic Affairs, and Acting Minister for the Ministry of Tourism, Commerce and Industry, paid a visit to the State Grid Project of Timor-Leste and held a meeting with Chinese Enterprises in Timor-Leste.

During the meeting with H.E. Mr. Fidélis Manuel Leite Magalhães, H.E. Mr. Wang said that the friendship between China and Timor-Leste is well established. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 17 years ago, the political mutual trust between our two countries has been continuously strengthened, and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields has been promoted. Bilateral trade has shown an upward trend in recent years. He pointed out that the sixth ministerial meeting of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation Between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macau) (hereafter referred to as the Macau Forum) will be held in Macau, China in June 2020. He hopes that Timorese high-level delegation will attend the meeting and jointly work on the Strategic Plan of the Macau Forum. In order to further deepen the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, Timor-Leste will be invited to participate in the Third China International Import Expo.

H.E. Mr. Fidélis Manuel Leite Magalhães warmly welcomed H.E. Mr. Wang and his delegation to Timor-Leste. He appreciated the invitation for the 6th Sixth Ministerial Meeting of Macau Forum, and said that the Timor-Leste will actively consider sending delegation to participate the Forum. He also said that Timor-Leste is currently promoting the implementation of the national economic development strategic plan, striving to promote the development of tourism, trade and industry, improving the business environment, promoting expansion of exports, and achieving diversified economic development. The Timorese side welcomes Chinese companies to invest in Timor-Leste and is willing to actively discuss cooperation with China in various fields.

H.E. Dr. Xiao Jianguo, Ambassador of China to Timor-Leste, Mr. Geng Xiewei, Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy and Mrs. Xu Yingzhen, Secretary General of Macau Forum, accompanied H.E. Mr. Wang to the event.
