On June 2nd, 2025, H.E. Ambassador Wang Wenli attended the opening ceremony of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) training for teachers of schools impacted by 2021 floods and delivered a speech. The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Education Dr Dulce de Jesus Soares, UNICEF Representative in Timor-Leste Ms Patrizia Di Giovanni, UN agency staff, representatives of school teachers, and local media.
“This training helps enhance teachers’ understanding, mastery, and innovative use of ICT equipment and online teaching tools. It is a cultivation of technical skills, and an important initiative to empower students and schools. China and Timor-Leste share a long-standing friendship. Over the past two decades, the two countries have achieved fruitful cooperation in various field. The Chinese government has always cared about the growth and development of Timorese students and attaches great importance to cooperation with the Timor-Leste government and UN agencies in education and human resources development. We believe that as our bilateral partnership continues to deepen, more teachers will have opportunities for further training, which will contribute positively to talent development in Timor-Leste.” said H.E.Ms. Wang Wenli in her speech.
Ambassador Wang Wenli said that in current international context, unilateralism and separated responses cannot effectively address transnational issues. Only through cooperation, information sharing, and resource integration among countries can we tackle global challenges. Multilateral cooperation platforms, such as the United Nations, offer countries equal opportunities to voice their opinions and participate in global governance, thereby helping to build a more inclusive, just, and democratic international order.
Minister of Education of Timor-Leste, Dr Dulce de Jesus Soares, and UNICEF Representative in Timor-Leste, Ms.Patrizia Di Giovanni, introduced the project and thanked the Chinese government for the support in strengthening digital education in Timor-Leste. They said that digital education provides more possibilities for teachers and students in Timor-Leste and prepares Timor-Leste for integration into ASEAN and the international community.
Ambassador Wang Wenli, together with Minister of Education and UNICEF Representative in Timor-Leste handed over information technology equipment to teachers from the aided schools.
