On April 23th, Ambassador Xiao Jianguo met with the whole members of the 8th Chinese medical team who had just arrived, and welcomed them to provide medical services in Timor-Leste.

Ambassador Xiao reviewed the glorious experience of the Chinese medical teams dispatched by the Chinese Government in the past 15 years, and spoke highly of the contributions made by the former Chinese medical teams in treating Timorese patients, improving the local medical and health conditions as well as promoting social development of Timor-Leste. For the past 15 years, about 100 medical personnel have sent to work in Timor-Leste for two-year terms by Chinese government, they have offered over 300,000 free medical consultations and treatments. Ambassador Xiao encouraged the 8th medical team to carry on the spirit of "Fearless of hardship, willing to contribute, dedicated to saving lives, and demonstrating great love without borders", and to provide quality medical service to the Timorese with noble medical ethics and exquisite medical skills, in order to fulfill the task assigned by the Motherland successfully as well as to display the good image of China and to promote the friendship between the two countries.
